Tips for Getting More Feedback Responses
Keep It Short
Ask the few questions you can act on. Use a focused rating and an optional comment when that is enough to understand the experience.
⏰ Time It Right
Send the request after the experience you want to understand. Ask about delivery after the order arrives, or setup after the customer has tried the task. Configure timing and repeat-invitation rules in your sending workflow.
🎯 Be Specific
"How was your experience?" gets vague answers. "How would you rate the checkout process?" gets actionable feedback. Ask about specific aspects you can improve.
Go Mobile-First
Preview the form on a phone before sending it. Check the question length, answer labels, and tap targets so people can respond wherever they are.
🔄 Close the Loop
Follow up on feedback, especially negative feedback. Acknowledge the issue, explain the next step, and tell respondents when you make a change based on their feedback.
Calculate the metric behind your feedback
Use the NPS calculator for recommendation scores, CSAT calculator for satisfaction, and CES calculator for effort. Keep the question wording and scale consistent when comparing results.
The response rate calculator compares completed responses with invitations. It does not measure whether the answers represent everyone you invited.
Example: a short customer support feedback form
Start with a satisfaction question and a separate outcome question: “How satisfied were you with the help?” and “Was your issue resolved?” Add a relevant follow-up when the customer still needs help.
These are suggested questions to configure in the customer service satisfaction template. Assign someone to review unresolved cases; a high rating for a helpful agent does not mean the underlying issue is fixed.
Keep the request short enough for its purpose and explain how replies will be used. See the customer-feedback follow-up guide for response ownership, ticket handoff, and consistent reporting.
